Der Yamaha XMAX 400 war die große Überraschung des Vergleichstests. Der 395ccm große Motor geht forsch ans Werk, die 100 km/h Grenze ist somit schnell geknackt. Dazu kommt die komfortable Sitzposition mit kleiner Rückenlehne und viel Raum für die Füße. Leider ist das Fahrwerk etwas straff, was sich bei Kanaldeckel im Rücken spüren lässt. Sobald es aber auf die Landstraße geht, funktioniert der XMAX einwandfrei, wodurch lange Strecken kein Problem sein sollten.
