Bij de BMW S 1000 R merk je zowel de nauwe verwantschap met de S 1000 RR superbike als het streven om de machine te kenmerken / opties te geven voor een hoog comfortniveau op landelijke wegen en dagelijks gebruik. De 1000 cc viercilinder motor is dan ook bruut maar toch gemakkelijk te besturen en de zitpositie is navenant sportief en comfortabel. Het feit dat de S 1000 R een van de meest betaalbare naked bikes is, is verrassend en zeer verheugend, maar grijp niet naar de lijst met optionele extra's - want dankzij de vele onweerstaanbare features wordt hij zeker duurder.
